We were SO excited to visit this farm :D Finally, a local lavender farm!

Yes, it's still a new farm. This year is their first year that they open to public. It took them around five years to be able to open the farm since they planted their lavenders from seeds. Unfortunately, though, this year the lavender didn't really bloom due to the harsh winter.

We were there beginning of August. July and August are usually their peak season (check their Facebook for updates). This weekend (Aug. 29-30) they offer FREE ENTRY to their farm since the bloom season is over. It's also the last weekend of the summer. Usually, the cost of the entry is $7. Please go and support the farm! You can also try their lavender ice cream. SO. GOOD!

All the staff there were so friendly and knowledgeable. We found out later (from their website) that the gentleman who was on the cash register was actually the owner. They also have a tour, explaining about lavender, the farm, lavender oil, and their bees! Yes, they also have bees - they make their own honey! The honey is also interesting...since the bees got their nectar from the lavender, they produce honey with a hint of lavender flavour :O  The lavender oil is really good for insect bites. Yes, I tried it myself :)

Finally, a Taiwanese dessert place in Mississauga that doesn't serve only bubble tea!

I'm a sucker for Asian dessert because they mostly involve mango and durian - two of my most favourite fruits! I tried Honeymoon Dessert in Asia before and I truly enjoyed it so I was excited to try this when I heard they open in Mississauga. They have several branches, including two in Toronto and one in Waterloo.

We ordered two desserts and one main course (fried chicken on rice). They gave a lot of chicken on our order so that was good. The desserts, though, I find they were lacking in ingredients. Not enough mango or fruits in general.

STRESSED is DESSERTS spelled backwards - cute!

1. JJ / Chatuchak Green Market

No doubt this market is my favourite of all! Located near the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market, this market is much smaller in size. It has a chilled-out bohemian ambiance with a lot of cafes, live music, and artsy, vintage, handcrafted knick knacks.

I went to Chatuchak Weekend Market and all I can say that it was very tiring! lol. I liked their coconut ice cream there, though. But for clothes shopping, I would rather go to Platinum (Pratunam) Fashion Mall and for everything else I would rather go to this market. Or the other options would be go to to Chatuchak really late (few hours before closing) to avoid the heat, then spend the rest of the night here :)

Hours: Thurs - Sun 17:00 – 02:00
MRT: Chatuchak
BTS: Mo Chit
Address: 1 Kamphaeng Phet 3, Chatuchak, Bangkok

2. Rot Fai / Train Night Market

This market is a bit far from everything. We had some troubles with taxi drivers as many of them are not familiar with this market. However, you can ask them to go to Seacon Square Shopping Mall. The market is just behind this mall.

If you love vintage, you will enjoy this market. They have displays of cool old vintage cars, a lot of vintage clothes, accessories, stuff for sell, cozy cafes, and of course tons of food (street food, traditional Thai food, desserts, you name it!). The size of this market is pretty big too so you might want to allocate a few hours for this market.

We went on Thursday and we found that some of the stores were closed. It wasn't that crowded either. I would go again but on a weekend perhaps. They also have another location in Ratchada, which is on my list to go if I go to Bangkok again :)

Hours: 17:00 - midnight (Thurs-Sun)
Location: Srinakarin Road Soi 51 (behind Seacon Square)
BTS: On Nut (closest station but still requires taxi)

New Rot Fai Market

Hours: 17:00-24:00 (Thursday-Sunday)
Location: Ratcadaphisek Road (close to Esplanade Shopping Mall)
MRT: National Cultural Centre

3. Yaowarat / Chinatown

If you're looking for good food at night, look no further! But please, don't go to the overrated T&K Seafood. Yes, we've tried it and yes, we queued for 30 mins+. We think the food is bland and we'd rather go somewhere else for seafood. We gave Yaowarat another chance and we came with our local Thai friend. She brought us to a smaller, less crowded soi to have seafood and it was much better than T&K Seafood! We also had Thai iced tea ice cream, coconut ice cream, durian, and lastly, delicious chewy toast bread with different sauce. YUM!

4. Siam Night Market

We accidentally discovered this night market after a long day in Siam area. The market is somehow geared towards teenagers and young working locals. We really enjoyed browsing this market, especially there were a lot of street food, too!

5. Asiatique

This night market is a short ferry away from BTS Saphan Taksin. It's a half mall and half bazaar with a lot of cool cafes and restaurants. It's catered more towards tourists so the price is not pocket friendly haha! This is the place if you want to watch the Calypso Cabaret (famous Ladyboy show) and Muay Thai.

Hours: 17:00-midnight
Location: Chareonkrung Soi 74-76
BTS: Saphan Taksin

If you have more time:
- Khao San Road
- Cicada Market (Hua Hin)

Heritage Fish and Chips could be the best fish and chips you could find in Milton. They're less greasy compared to the other fish and chips I've tried and their lunch special is a good deal! 2 huge fish and tons of chips for around $7. WINNN!

Now that it's summer, we'd rather spend our time outside than inside.

I get it.

With that said, I introduce you to the easiest, healthy breakfast-for-dinner menu: baked portobello mushroom with egg and cheese! It's so easy that you could pop them in the oven, take a shower (or not), then your dinner is ready TA-DAAA!

You will need:
- 2 portobello mushrooms
- 2 eggs
- cheese
- salt and pepper

Wipe your mushrooms with damp towels. Don't wash it with water as it will make them release a lot of water when baked.

Cut the stems.

Place the eggs on top of the mushrooms.

Place the mushrooms + eggs on aluminum foil. Make sure you spray the foil with olive oil to prevent them from sticking.

Cut the cheese. I use mozzarella cheese. Place the cheese a few mins before they're done.

Melted gooey cheeseeee...eee..e.

YUMMY

DIG INNNNNN

Ice cream season is finally hereee!!! *YAY*

I finally got to try this ice cream place after passing by so many times :) We had to since we need some dessert after devouring that delicious peameal bacon on Milton's Farmers' Market!

You can tell from inside the store that the store has been around for a long time. It just felt homey and we spotted their ice cream machine so you know they make their own ice cream and gelato! I tried their hazelnut gelato and I liked it! It wasn't too sweet and has just the right amount of nuts :) :) :) I would come back for sure!!
